The EBR 1190 SHOWA Big Piston Forks (BPF) suffering for solo Sportriders from a too high spring pre-load and a slow feedback, unsensitive behavior when set up with the original EBR factory spring and settings.
These Showa BPF Technology is from the hydraulic set-up and the general construction a very good fork what don´t need to fear comparison with much more expensive forks, like that golden brand from Sweden.
We won with that fork with the Pegasustraceteam on the EBR 1190RR many races and 3 Championships.
If you are a Sportrider or race on national level, all you need are the right springs and a very different set-up.
Spring: 10,0 N/mm
Airchamber : 75 mm
Forkoil: SAE 5 (2 liter you need)
To start with:
Spring preload: Half way closed as standard setting
Compression 1 Turn closed (from total open)
Rebound 1 Turn closed (from total open)
An outstanding feature of these fork springs is their extremely smooth surface. This is achieved by a process known as vibratory finishing, and it has the effect of minimizing friction. Less friction, in turn, improves the motorcycle's handling and the functionality of the fork, and also extends the life of the fork springs.
Wilbers calls this process *ZERO Friction*.
In order to optimally utilise the performance of the fork springs, Wilbers recommends their Wilbers fork oil, following the recommendation for the particular motorbike model.
