The originally construction of the CCM 450 Adventure luggage System is based on a luggage frame what is mounted to the Aluminum sub frame and an upper luggage carrier what is mounted to the under-seat fuel tank. Naturally the factory limited the carrying load of the upper carrier to 5 Kilo. For the sides of the luggage frame, CCM offers optional soft bag frame carriers what getting replaced by our kit.
The idea behind our construction was to lead more forces into the main frame footpeg mounting points, reverse the system of the tank situation from carrying to "getting carried" and build up a “cage structure” by connecting right and left side of the luggage frame behind the rear wheel with a link located were originally the rear blinkers are mounted.
We like the design of the factory upper luggage carrier and the rear mud guard as well, that’s why we designed our parts around the originally CCM parts, what keep the bikes professional look.
Originally our plan was to supply complete welded and ready to mount powder coated parts. Unfortunately we found out in the construction and building process that the ready product need to be priced much higher than expected, in the range of 650-750,00 Euro and also the shipping costs would be very high. So decision was made to sell the CCM 450 Adventure luggage carrier only as a building kit.
The kit includes:
-All Waterjet / laser cut mounting plates
-All straight round tubes, size 18mm diameter
-All square tubes, size 20 x 40mm, 45 degree pre-cut and milled out to accept the pannier frames
- 2 x pannier frame NCCR Art. Nr. C100010
- Flat steel for mounting factory or other toolbox behind the left pannier frame
-Pre bended tubes to reinforce the factory luggage frame and add mounting points for the side Frames
-Blinker mounting plates
-All mounting Hardware, nuts, bolts, bushings
-Detailed pictured mounting instruction and full builder support by email / phone
What skills you or your builder need to have:
Because of the clearances and personal demands the tube pieces are not end cut or notched. So you need to be able to cut and notch tube ends.
The Luggage rack will be built at the bike, so you need to bring the bike to the builders place and you need to be aware that some spot welding will happen on the bike to get the parts into place.
We weld our parts with TIG, but MIG will do the job as well. Count in one long day to have it all in place and finally full welded.
That’s how it will be done (general info):
You start with reinforcing the factory luggage carrier with welding tubes to the luggage frame. Next is to weld the additional mounting points for the side carriers to the luggage frame.
Now you can screw the square tube pieces on the luggage frame and all other pre-cut plates at right foot peg, left side stand mount, etc. to its points.
From that on you cut all parts piece by piece into their positions and spot weld them there.
A detailed instruction will lead you through all steps. BUT you need to have the skills in general; we don’t supply a tutorial for notching, cutting or welding.
Short: Understand what is needed when you look on that pictures or find somebody who do that.
That’s what you will have at the end:
A heavy duty luggage carrier system for your CCM what can be removed including the factory luggage frame in one piece. The rear fuel tank is “hanging” now additional in the rear “luggage cage” and is not anymore a full stress member. The carrier offers multiple connection options for the most hard and soft pannier systems. You build it / let built it, so you can bring all your own ideas in for additional points to fix straps, etc. The side stand is with the kit now easy to reach.
The solid construction protects the rear part of the CCM 450 (exhaust, fuel- tank, rear brake, etc.) in case of crashing.
Att: Requires CCM factory luggage frame for mounting (need to be modified), not included
