After your order we contact you to learn more about your project.
With the supplied information, we modify in our data model the steering head angle (what purpose?), the head stock height (what fork stem?) and the head stock height to the road (general geometry) and transfer it to our ME-Racing Multi-jig system. That way we can manufacture a frame with your individual parameters while keeping the costs on a acceptable level.
The frame includes no mounting points for fuel tank, steering stop or any other accessories. We can offer that, but our experience shows, that its usually the best to have the chassis mocked up before you look into these decisions. Here again Docol steel play out its advantages, different to CrMo you can tag on mild steel brackets with all conventional welding technics and achieve a perfect result.
For the OEM style 6 engine mounting points the original hardware (original A-arm shaft) need to be partly modified or alternative mounting hardware can be used. No changes on the engine necessary.

Why Docol R8 Tubes?
Other materials often contain variations that behave differently, even if they have the same design. Docol R8 tubes have uniform properties that make it possible to develop structures and chassis that deliver the same high performance, over and over again.
Easy to work with
One of the advantages that Docol R8 Tube can offer racing engineers and mechanics is its good weldability. Thanks to low alloy counts and a clean oxide-free surface, Docol R8 Tube is easily welded to other types of steel. Pre-heating is not necessary and the characteristics of the weld zone are close to the parent material.
And when it comes to bending Docol R8 Tube, this can be done with the most commonly used bending tools.
High ductility – it’s a matter of safety
Docol R8 Tube has excellent ductility properties for chassis and roll cages: Docol R8 can absorb a great deal of energy before cracking. This is important from a safety perspective, not only in a crash, but also in the event of driver rescue. Tests have shown that cutting through a crashed chassis is easier when the chassis is made from Docol R8 tubes.
Tested and reviewed
Docol R8 Tube has been extensively tested and reviewed and is SFI approved. It is formally approved by NHRA, SCCA, BMW Car Club, Powri and Can Am Sprint Series. You’ll find Docol R8 Tube in drag cars, sprint cars, midget cars, motorcycles, sports cars, late models, modifieds and go-karts.
Road registration and Motorsport approval are subject of many local or competition rule book based regulations. Docol steel is approved by the FIA as chassis building component material in many classes.
Docol and CrMo
Docol R8 State-of-the-Art Advanced High Strength Steel
Extensive research, consultation with testing engineers, and discussion with other race car fabricators led Competition Motorsport to be the first to transition fabrication of our bolt-in roll bars and harness bars from 4130 CrMo (chrome-moly) to Docol R8. Docol is a modern, engineered Dual Phase Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS), replacing 4130 as the state-of-the-art material for race car chassis and safety cage manufacturing. 4130 has been the default tubing material for race car chassis since its introduction during WWII. However, racing fabricators are switching to Docol R8. Engineered specifically for motorsports applications, it is an improvement over 4130 in every way.
DOCOL R8 ADVANTAGES
Docol is considerably stronger than 4130 CrMo. Tensile Strength of 116,000 psi vs 95,000 psi, Yield Strength of 100,000 psi vs. 75,000 psi.
Docol's heat-affected zone (HAZ) is much smaller, meaning much less joint embrittlement from the heat of TIG welding.
Docol has a higher resistance to fatigue.
Docol is much more tolerant of heavy fabrication (such as tube bending and forming).
Docol is far more dimensionally consistent, with tube diameter variance of 0.3% vs. 10.0% in 4130 and wall thickness variance less than 1/3 that of 4130.
In a CMS roll bar, that translates to higher strength, better protection, and more longevity. Docol can absorb greater impact energy while maintaining its structural integrity, remaining intact better than 4130 CrMo.
