Broken exhaust studs are quite common on all aircooled Buell or Sportsters. Our recommended procedure is to TIG weld a special prepared nut on and just screw the leftover of the stud out. Anyhow, there are reasons you might favorize to drill it oiut, either you have no professionell welder on hand or the stud is so deep broken off (more then 10mm into the hole), that you need to drill. If its mid of season and you are not keen to take the head of to bring it to a proper machine shop for the job, the JIMS 1705 drill plate tool is your best shot. But be aware, there is no garantee that it works. There is always the risk, depending, how the break surface of the leftover stud looks, that the drill vanish to the side and end up in the aluminium of the head. In that case it might require installing an in1290sert, such as Helicoil or Timesert. You can either buy or borrow the tool (Europe only). In case of you borrow the tool, you return it to us within 14 days and get a refund. The drill bit you can keep, we always send it out with a new one. After we got the tool back from you (free of any costs for us) we refund you 1100kr. So in fact you pay for borrowing the tool and having the drill bit just 190kr. Instructions, see the PDF below.
